Georgetown:
Doras "Lamar" Campbell, 76, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Campbell was born in Kings Mountain, NC on May 19, 1937, a son of the late Troy Lamar Campbell and Helen Carter Campbell. He grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High School, where he was a member of the football team. Mr. Campbell retired after 46 years with International Paper Co. and belonged to its Quarter Century Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed boating. Mr. Campbell was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Bobbie Owens Campbell of Georgetown; a son, Lamar "Rock" Campbell, Jr. of Hanahan; two daughters, Angela C. Barrow of Mt. Pleasant and Alice Campbell of Georgetown; two step-sons, Michael Rowe of Pawleys Island and Mark Rowe of Augusta, Ga.; three sisters, Betty Megard of Denver, NC, Peggy Lewis of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Helen Wynn Owens of Georgetown; and five grandchildren, Rusty Campbell, Brandie L. Cooper, John "Alix" Horton, IV, Elizabeth Barrow, and Elliott Barrow, III.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was predeceased by: his second wife, Betty Johnson Campbell; and a sister, Patricia Cribb.
Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock on Wednesday morning, September 25, 2013, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill and the Rev. H. John Cribb, Jr. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, September 24, 2013, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock.
