Murrells Inlet: Doris L. Dennett Brooks, age 82, died October 16, 2003. Formerly of Danbury, Conn., she was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Hugh P. "Bub" Brooks. Mrs. Brooks was born in Mt. Vernon, N. Y. on May 21, 1921, the daughter of the late George and Mae Doyle Dennett. Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker and self-taught artist. Survivors include her children, son Dennis and his wife Sheila, daughter Carol Lewis and her husband Richard, all of New Milford, Conn., and son Kevin and his wife Moira of Brookfield, Conn.; two sisters, Marie Hughes of Avon, N. C., and Jean McCabe of Katonah, N. Y.; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Erin Lewis, Maureen Ross, Timothy, Neil, Ellen, Austin and Thomas Brooks; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, George A. Dennett. The Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church in Garden City on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 10 am. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
