Doris Gerald Butler, 90, died Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet. She was born in Loris, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Mack Shelton Gerald and Cilla (Faulk) Gerald.

Mrs. Butler formerly worked for A&P, the City of Georgetown, Plantation House, Belk, and Butler Trucking, from which she retired. She loved her garden, her yard, and planting flowers. From her garden, she enjoyed putting up vegetables, making pickles, and sharing the fruits of her labor. She could often be seen outside feeding her birds.

She loved her family so very much and loved nothing more than toodling around with them, going out to eat, going to True Blue, and enjoying anything and everything to do with her great grandchildren. Doris Gerald Butler always has been, and will continue to be, a blessing to us all - not only to her family, but to all who knew her. A true Southern Matriarch is lost from this earth.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her sister, Viena Gerald; her brother, Johnnie Gerald; and her great-grandson, Anderson Allen Harwell. Survivors include her son, Terry Allen Butler (Tabatha) of Summerville, SC; her daughter, Judy Butler Smith of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Marshall Allen Butler, wife Courtney, and great-grandsons, Landon Allen Butler and Ian Malson Butler of Georgetown, SC, Jessica Butler Harwell, husband Blake, and great-grandchildren, Hanna Lauren Harwell, Anderson Allen Harwell (preceded Doris in death),and Harry Shelton Harwell of Georgetown, SC; Victoria Butler Culbertson, husband Jay, great-grandchildren, Harper Victoria Hayes and Allen Hellams Culbertson of Georgetown, SC; Butler Elizabeth Kimbrough of Augusta, GA; Caroline Shields Kimbrough of Brookhaven, GA; and multiple nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

Mrs. Butler's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the church.
