IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Jane
Roberts
March 21, 1935 – August 9, 2025
Dorothy Jane Roberts, 90, of Bonneau, SC, passed away peacefully at her home on August 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born March 21, 1935, in Georgetown, SC, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Walter Roberts and Lola Perry Roberts. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Winfred E. Roberts; her grandson, Kristopher Martin; step-grandchildren, Nicholas Morris and Jake Humphries; three brothers; seven sisters; and her best friend, Marie Morris.
Dorothy devoted her life to her family, finding her greatest joy in caring for her husband and children. She created a home that was both loving and structured—a place where kindness and discipline worked hand in hand. She was a phenomenal cook, famous for her one-of-a-kind nut cakes that were eagerly anticipated at family gatherings. A true book lover, Dorothy enjoyed everything from page-turning mysteries to tender romances, always ready to get lost in a good story.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Arnold Hardee (Amy) of Aiken, SC, Tony Hardee (Peggy) of Normangee, TX, Cheryl Culpepper (Jimmy) of Martinez, GA, and Renee Martin (Roy) of Bonneau, SC; and her stepchildren, Karen Casselman of Andrews, SC, Debby Humphries (Jay) of Florence, SC, Kathy Roberts of Moncks Corner, SC, and James Roberts (Christy) of Centerville, AL. She was blessed with grandchildren, Heather Hardee, Danielle Maynard (Patrick), and Dean Culpepper; step-grandchildren, R.B. Morris, Chasity Morris, Jessica Perry (Marshall), Samual Ramu, Destiny Roberts, Brandon Roberts, and Cage Roberts; and three sisters, Mary Pirt, Peggy Goins, and Jimmie Dale Etheridge. Her love also extended to many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
The family will always be grateful to Dorothy's compassionate caregivers with Interim Hospice and to Renee and Roy Martin, whose devotion and care over the past fourteen years brought her comfort, dignity, and joy.
A funeral service celebrating Dorothy's life will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All4Paws Animal Rescue or The Wounded Warrior Project.
The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home is assisting the family.
