Obituary

Washington Court House, Ohio: Marvin Henry Roszmann, M.D., 92, of Washington Court House, Ohio, formerly of Pawleys Island, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Fayette Bible Church directed by Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H. Officiating will be the Rev. Tony Garren. Burial will be in the Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at 3 p.m. under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H. Friday, Aug. 31, 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. Dr. Roszmann was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Marion County, Ohio, a son of the late John Henry and Oza Ethel Hickman Roszmann. He was a graduate of Meeker High School in Marion County, attended Ohio Northern University and graduated in 1937 with a B.S in biology from The Ohio State University. He received his Medical Doctor degree from The Ohio State University in 1941. Following his military service in the U.S. Army during World War II, Dr. Roszmann moved to Washington C.H. in 1946 to establish his medical practice. He was one of the original physicians at Fayette County Memorial Hospital and served as the first chief of staff. He retired in 1984, at which time he moved to Pawleys Island. Dr. Roszmann was a physician at the Smith Clinic in Pawleys Island for 16 years. While in South Carolina, he was a member and taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Georgetown. Dr. Roszmann returned to Washington C.H., Ohio, in May 2007. Dr. Roszmann was a founding member of the Fayette Bible Church, a member of Paul H. Hughey Post No. 25 of the American Legion and was formerly a member of the Washington Lions Club and the Order of Symposiarchs. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mary Ann Roszmann; three brothers, Ralph, Paul and Foster Roszmann; and three sisters, Marguerite Roszmann, Evelyn Hudnall and Fern Prettyman. Surviving are: his wife, Gale Cox Roszmann; four children, John Henry Roszmann (Christine) of Washington C.H., Thomas Marvin Roszmann of Colorado Springs, Colo., Marjorie Ellen Tankersley (Jerome) of Fredericksburg, Va. and Jane Elizabeth Mellor (James) of Dahlonega, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Elisabeth Ebben (Williams) of West Chester, Ohio, Claire VonSaucken (Sylvius) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Matthew Roszmann (Melinda) of Denver, Rachel Roszmann of Chicago, Ill., Chloe Roszmann of Denver, Jerome Tankersley V of San Francisco, Calif., Emily Witt (Michael) of Charlotte, N.C., James Mellor of Roswell, Ga. and Laura Mellor of New York, N.Y.; a great-grandson, Luke Roszmann of Denver; two step-great-grandchildren, Tim and Don Ebben; a brother, Dwight Roszmann of Marion County; and a sister, Nova Mae Wynkoop of Canal Winchester.
