Pawleys Island:
Duncan McNair "Mac" Chapman, 81, husband of Elizabeth "Dibbie" Crosland Chapman, died Monday, April 18, 2016, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Chapman was born in Cheraw on May 4, 1934, a son of the late Duncan McNair Chapman, Jr. and Beulah Dawkins Chapman. He grew up in Cheraw and graduated from Cheraw High School in 1952 and Clemson College in 1958. Mr. Chapman worked for a number of textile firms and was a retired plant manager with Delta Woodside. He moved to Pawleys Island eleven years ago, where he was a member and former Elder of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church. He was also a former chairman of the church cemetery committee and enjoyed the Saturday Men's Fellowship at the church.
Surviving are: his wife of Pawleys Island; a son, Duncan McNair Chapman, IV (Gina) of Jamestown, N.C.; a daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Chapman Johnson (Steve) of Greensboro, N.C.; five grandchildren, Lauren Chapman Hardister (Bradley), Emily Martin (Jonathan), Stephen Kent (Melony), Michael Kent, and Will Johnson; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be eleven o'clock Monday morning, April 25, 2016, at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Diehl. A reception will immediately follow in the Holsclaw Fellowship Center of the church. Inurnment will be private.
