Georgetown:
Earl Crawford Stevens, Jr., 87, died Monday, November 6, 2006, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Stevens was born in New Orleans, La. on April 27, 1919, a son of the late Earl Crawford Stevens and Cleio McPherson Stevens. He grew up in New Orleans and graduated from Ruggy Academy. Mr. Stevens attended Tulane University and the University of S. C. He served as an Ordinance Officer in the 44th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force in the U. S. Army during W. W. II. Mr. Stevens was employed in New Orleans, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana in the insurance business and retired twenty years ago as a regional manager. He moved to Georgetown fifteen years ago and was a member of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Caroline Williams Stevens of Georgetown; two daughters, Carolyn S. Williams of Dallas, Tex. and Elizabeth S. Hildinger of Ann Arbor, Mich.; three grandchildren, Rev. Stephen London of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Mary Girsch of Dallas, Tex., and Murtha Girsch of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and one great granddaughter, Claire London of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Committal services will be Thursday morning, November 9, 2006, at eleven thirty o'clock in Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia.
Memorial services will be Friday afternoon, November 10, 2006, at three o'clock in Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul C. Fuener.
