Pawleys Island:
Edith Chambers Morris, 73, widow of Francis Johnston Morris, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at MUSC Hospital in Charleston.
Mrs. Morris was born in Forsyth, Ga. on September 15, 1939, a daughter of Myrtle Abernathy Chambers and the late Emmett Chambers. She grew up in Forsyth and graduated from Mary Persons High School and Tift College. Mrs. Morris taught school in Cornelia, Ga. and later worked in sales in the fashion industry. She owned her own business in Columbus, Ga. Mrs. Morris lived in Pawleys Island since 1997. She was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and an honorary board member of the Cultural Council of Georgetown County. Mrs. Morris was active in fund raising in both Georgetown Co. and Ga.
In addition to her mother of Macon, Ga., surviving are: a son, Matthew H. Morris of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Melanie G. Morris of Rome, Ga.; a twin-sister, Eva Feldman (Bob) of Key West Fla.; and a sister, Debbie Waters (John) of Athens, Ga.
Memorial services will be held at eleven o'clock on Friday morning, August 2, 2013, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Steve Wilkins and the Rev. Dr. William Puckett. A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, August 1, 2013, at the family residence in Pawleys Plantation from five until seven o'clock.
