Georgetown: Edna Owens Rowe, 97, died Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Genesis Health Care in Mooresville, N.C. Mrs. Rowe was born in Andrews on May 9, 1915, a daughter of the late Walter Hazard Owens and Beaulah S. Avant Owens. She grew up in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School. Mrs. Rowe was a charter member and the oldest member of Friendfield Presbyterian Church, where she was the first secretary and treasurer, a former president of the Women of the Church, and a member of the Pulpit Committee. She was a former president of both the Magnolia Garden Club and the Homemaker's Club, and a Cub Scout Leader. Surviving are: two sons, Bobby Rowe (Carol Ann) of Sherrill's Ford, N.C. and Jeryl Rowe (Betty) of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren, Steven, Carol, Craig, Michael, and Baxter; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, September 8, 2012, at Andrews Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Robert Wilkes.
