Obituary

Pawleys Island: Edythe Lang Myers, 92, died Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown. Mrs. Myers was the daughter of the late Carrie Austin Lang and Noah "Capt. Buck" Lang. She was a member of St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church and had served as a member of the altar guild and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Myers was a volunteer at Georgetown Memorial Hospital for the last five years and was a member of the hospital auxiliary. Prior to moving to Pawleys Island, Mrs. Myers had lived in Columbia and Atlanta, Ga. She was a long-time resident of Atlanta and a member of the Georgia Board of Realtors. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School class of Tucker First United Methodist Church in Tucker, Ga. She worked for the state of Georgia prior to moving to Columbia, where she worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of S.C. for ten years prior to retirement. Mrs. Myers was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Columbia. Mrs. Myers belonged to the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority and was a past president of both the N. Charleston Jaycees and the Chicora PTA. She attended Winyah High School and received her teaching certificate from Clemson University. Mrs. Myers also attended the University of Georgia, where she received her certificate in Property Management. Her hobbies were sewing, reading, gardening, and dancing. She loved people and never met a stranger during her many travels. Mrs. Myers is predeceased by: her husband, Jessie L. Myers, Jr.; her grandsons, Joseph Che Myers and Terrill L. Myers; three sisters, Lillian L. Williams, Ann Jones, and Freddie Mae Lang; and three brothers, John Jake Lang, Fritz Lang, and Noah Lang. Mrs. Myers is survived by: her son, Terrill L. Myers, Jr. (Ann Jones) of Senoia, Ga.; her daughter, Sharen M. Mills (Thomas) of Pawleys Island, with whom she made her home; her brother, James A. Lang of Myrtle Beach; three grandchildren, Shawn Fowler and Thomas "Tripp" V. Mills, III, both of Columbia, and Lance Myers of Senoia, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Myers West Fowler (Scooter), Thomas V. Mills, IV (Trace), and William Tate Mills; nieces, Chrner Bellamy, Nell Hill of Atlanta, Ga., Wendy Jones, Frieda Staubitz, Harriett Lang, and Alicia Owens, all of Myrtle Beach, Cathy Wilson, Cheryl Hill, Charlene, Allison, Lisa Spencer of Atlanta, Ga., and Michelle Killen of Pawleys Island; nephews, Gene Lang of Baltimore, Md., Harvey Jones, Jamie Lang of Myrtle Beach, Steve Kelly, Edwin Kelly, Kay Kelly of Charleston, and Donnie Myers of Raleigh, N.C.; and cousin, Sam Roach of Atlanta, Ga. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, November 19, 2012, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. C. Nels Ledwell and the Rev. Milton L. McGuirt.
