Georgetown: Elaine Veronica James Fitzgerald, 97, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Agape Rehabilitation of Conway. Born and raised in Apalachicola, Fla. on November 5, 1916, Mrs. Fitzgerald was a daughter of the late Emanuel James and Annie Martina James. She retired from the Dept. of Commerce in 1975. Mrs. Fitzgerald enjoyed playing bridge and was a great animal lover. She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are: a son, Oliver Cooper (Patricia) of Georgetown; two grandsons; and a sister-in-law, Ann Estes of Florida. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fitzgerald was predeceased by: her first husband, Elgie Lee Cooper; her second husband of 59 years, Isaiah Y. Fitzgerald; and four brothers.
