Pawleys Island:
Elizabeth Izard Bull Asnip, 82, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away January 7, 2015, with family and friends at her side.
Betty was born November 18, 1932 in Charleston, the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Henry DeSaussure Bull and Gertrude Cornish Bull. She was raised in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High school. She went on to attend Coker College, and received her undergraduate degree from University of South Carolina and a graduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church and spent many years as a mentor and educator through the Education For Ministry program in a variety of churches. She served as vestry member, greeter, lay reader, Sunday school teacher and acolyte with quiet grace and joy. She continued service and ministry in her later years by working as a Stephen Minister. Betty served on several boards throughout the years, including the Witherspoon Museum in Greensboro, NC and the Greensboro Opera Guild. She was also a former president of the Georgetown Chapter of the Colonial Dames of America and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Betty is survived by her husband of 60 years, George Asnip, Jr. of Pawleys Island; three sons, George Asnip, III (Sylvia) of Browns Summit, NC, Andrew Asnip (Elizabeth) of Mt Juliet, TN, and Matthew Asnip (Sally) of Atlanta, GA; a daughter Elizabeth Ream (Robert) of Tyrone, GA; as well as beloved grandchildren, Daniel Asnip, Britney Spiller, Elizabeth Trzicky, Banks Ream, and Isabelle Ream; and a great grandchild, Liam Asnip Spiller.
A celebration of Betty's life will be held at Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church, 113 Baskervill Drive, Pawleys Island, SC, 29585 on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church or LAMB Institute.
