Georgetown:
Elizabeth "Bette" Rose Greenwald Fogel, 99, widow of Abraham "Abe" Irving Fogel, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Bishop Gadsden in Charleston.
Mrs. Fogel was born September 19, 1918, in Trenton, NJ, a daughter of the late Sidney Greenwald and Madeline Fuld Greenwald White. She grew up in Baltimore, MD. Mrs. Fogel married prior to World War II and moved to Georgetown in 1945. Mrs. Fogel was a member of the Georgetown Watercolor Society, the Georgetown County Historical Society, and the Georgetown Garden Club. She was a former board member of the Georgetown County Mental Health Association. Mrs. Fogel was a co-owner and buyer for Fogel's Department Store. She was beloved by many of the residence and staff at Bishop Gadsden, where she lived for eighteen years.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Fogel was predeceased by: a brother, Sidney Greenwald.
Surviving are: two sons, Harry "Tad" R. Fogel (Sharyn) of Brevard, NC; and George S. Fogel (Laurette) of Georgetown; eight grand-children; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at two o'clock on Monday afternoon, October 9, 2017, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from one-fifteen until two o'clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
