Pawleys Island:
Elizabeth Thompson Hall, 87, of Pawleys Island, SC, passed from this life from natural causes on 9/11/2010, twelve weeks after the death of her beloved husband, Jim.
Betty Lou was also preceded in death by her son, James E. Hall, Jr.
She is survived by Lucile Hall Cater-Hazelip and Ken Hazelip of Cave Creek, AZ and Elizabeth Hall Howard and Richard Howard of NC and FL, as well as grandchildren K.W. Bryan Cater of Charlotte, NC, Emily and Elizabeth Hall of Mt. Pleasant, SC and beloved nieces Lynn Thompson Gagliano, Claudia Thompson Bessinger, Rebecca Thompson Godwin, and Caroline Thompson Tresino of SC and VA and Lu Moss Nelson of CA.
Betty grew up living and traveling with her family between St. Petersburg, FL, and Kingstree, SC, and attended the University of SC. She worked for Drexel Furniture Company in Kingstree and Morganton, NC, where she met the love of her life, Jim Hall. They were sweethearts until the end of their lives, after 61 years of marriage.
During that time, Betty Lou worked hard raising their three children while Jim started his business in Greensboro, NC. She learned to fly so she could accompany Jim on his impromptu travels. In later years they enjoyed traveling the US, Mexico, and Canada in their fifth-wheel RV with Betty Lou's brother Bumpy Thompson & his wife Carolyn, which gave rise to many, many colorful stories. Betty Lou and Jim called Pawleys Island home for many years.
We are sad to lose our Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, and friend, but she is with her lifetime love now. For that we can only feel joy and love. As Betty Lou kept saying "all will be well".
Also surviving Betty Lou are special family members Deloris Pyatt, Steve and Jo Ann Barnhill, and Sean Maloney. Deep appreciation goes to Comfortkeepers caregivers Mavis Cole, Marie Reynolds, Fran Young, Tammy Strichek, and to Hannah Ross for all their care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, c/o Georgetown County United Way, 515 Front Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.
