Obituary

Spring Hill, Fla.: Elizabeth "Lib" Pope Ward, 93, former resident of Georgetown, died Sunday, February 27, 2005, in Spring Hill. Mrs. Ward was born in Georgetown on October 17, 1911, a daughter of the late Samuel Martin Pope and Mary McDonald Pope. She grew up in Georgetown, where she met her late husband, Col. Henry Prentiss Ward. They spent most of their lives in the Army and traveled all over the world. After Col. Ward retired from service, they came back home to Georgetown. Mrs. Ward lived with her son in Spring Hill for the past six years. Mrs. Ward was active in the Georgetown Garden Club, Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She participated in the documentation of the old cemeteries in Georgetown Co. Surviving are: a son, Henry P. Ward, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Spring Hill; two grandchildren, Jeff Ware of Spring Hill and Susan Roman of Clear Water, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Julissa Ware, Joshua Ware, and Olivia Rodriquez, all of Spring Hill; a brother-in-law, Alfred P. Seitter of Georgetown; three nephews David M. Hornbaker of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Paul R. Hornbaker of Boise, Idaho, and A. Paul Seitter, Jr. of Youngsville, N. C.; and a niece, Mary Beth Brawley of Charlotte, N. C. Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Saturday morning, March 5, 2005, at the graveside in Elmwood Cemetery in Georgetown.
