Georgetown:
Emily Barrineau Blount, 84, widow of John Cannon Blount, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Blount was born in Andrews on January 16, 1934, a daughter of the late Gilbert William Barrineau and Ruth Ethel Terry Barrineau. She grew up in Georgetown and was a graduate of Winyah High School. Mrs. Blount retired from the accounting department of International Paper Company after forty-four years employment with the company.
Mrs. Blount was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also a founding member of The Ribbon Club and a member of The Ladies Lunch Bunch. Mrs. Blount loved to dance, had a great sense of humor, and was very outgoing and spunky.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Blount was predeceased by: three sisters, Pearl Talbot, Patsy Avant, and Nell Kennedy.
Surviving are: three daughters, Suzanne Perritt (John) of Surfside Beach and Jackie Walters (Sam) and Barbara Sossamon, both of Georgetown; and four grandchildren, Lindsey Downing Walters (Kirk Battle) and Dr. Laura Emily Walters, both of Pawleys Island, Sarah Allyson Perritt of Surfside Beach, and John Grayson Sossamon of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from ten until eleven in the church Parlor.
