Emma Joanne Howard Blackwell, 66, died Saturday, September 4, 2010, at her residence.
Mrs. Blackwell was born in Andrews on October 4, 1943, a daughter of the late Pratt John Howard and Getty H. Howard. She grew up in Andrews and attended Andrews High School. Mrs. Blackwell lived in Greenville for a number of years before moving to Seneca a short time ago. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mrs. Blackwell was predeceased by: two sisters, Nora Lee Howard and Doris Howell; a brother, Johnny Elwood Howard; and a great-grandson.
Surviving are: her husband, Richard Arthur Blackwell of Seneca; three sons, Michael O'Neal Long of Andrews, Thomas Dwayne Long (Connie) of Johnsonville and William Douglas Meek, III (Gina) of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two daughters, Deborah Denise Vermilyea (George) of Gray Court and Vicki Lynn Long of Georgetown; two brothers, Henry James "Jackie" Howard (Linda) of Florence and John P. Howard, Jr. (Sandra) of Andrews; a sister, Nina Pope (Jimmy) of Hemingway; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, September 7, 2010, at Andrews Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Doug Mathis.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the cemetery from one-thirty until two o'clock.
