Obituary

Georgetown: Enoch Ford Summers, 89, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at NHC National Healthcare Center of Garden City. Mr. Summers was born in Ruth, Miss. on March 21, 1919, a son of the late Boone Summers and Dura Brister Summers. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Summers retired after forty-two years employment with International Paper Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Summers was predeceased by: his wife, Gwendolyn "Dinky" Wilson Summers; and a son-in-law, Bill Saunders. Surviving are: two daughters, Gwen Summers Rhinehardt and her husband George of Fort Mill and Jeannie Summers Saunders of Columbia; a sister, Avanelle Summers Seals of Picayune, Miss.; four grandchildren, Ginger Hinson of Rock Hill, Jeff Rhinehardt and his wife Stacey of Clover, Doug Saunders and his wife Anna and Meg Saunders, all of Columbia; four great-grandchildren, Adam Rhinehardt, Brooke Rhinehardt, Brittany Rhinehardt, and Daniel Hinson; an aunt, Nell Gabbie of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Thursday morning, April 3, 2008, at First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
