Ernestine Parks Henson, 80, wife of Joe M. Henson, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at her Litchfield Beach, S. C. vacation home.
Mrs. Henson was born in Friendsville, Tenn. on April 11, 1935, a daughter of the late Ernest Donald Parks and Cordelia McClellan Parks. She was a member of the Georgetown, S.C. Presbyterian Church and the church's Presbyterian Women and choir. Mrs. Henson was also a member of the Garden Club of Kingsport, Tenn. and Georgetown and the Junior League of Kingsport.
Mrs. Henson "Teeny" was a treasure to her husband and family. She was gifted with a beautiful voice and a talent for floral arranging. "Teeny" was a generous soul who brought joy to all those who knew her and had a great love for playing tennis and spending time at the beach.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henson was predeceased by: a brother, Buddy Joe Parks.
Surviving are: her husband of Thompson's Station, two daughters, Suzanne Henson Mayo (William) of Thompson's Station, and Cynthia Henson Blackburn (Richard) of Thompson's Station; a sister; Mary H. Fugate (Gerald) of Maryville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; Gracie Blackburn, Chris Mayo, (Lisa), Joe Blackburn (Rachel), and Will Mayo; and three great-grandchildren, Avi Mayo and Virginia and Luke Blackburn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at two o'clock in the afternoon on March 18, 2016, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Steve Wilkins. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at three o'clock in the afternoon at Grandview Cemetery, Maryville, Tenn.
