Pawleys Island:
Ernestine Mercer Wyndham, 88, died Monday, November 3, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Wyndham was born in Georgetown on August 10, 1920, a daughter of the late Richard Orland Mercer and Leah Eaddy Mercer. She was a graduate of Memminger High School and Columbia College. Mrs. Wyndham taught school at Andrews High School, Winyah High School, Kensington Elementary School, and Winyah Academy. She was the 1972 Georgetown Co. "Star Teacher of the Year". Mrs. Wyndham was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the widow of Osceola Wyndham, Jr.
Surviving are: two sons, Richard Mercer Wyndham (Alice) of McClellanville and Roger Orland Wyndham (Roz) of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Melissa Wyndham Ballentine (John) of Johns Island; a sister, Dorothy M. Huff of James Island; a sister-in-law, Frances L. Mercer of Mt. Pleasant; and five grandchildren Alexandra S. Wyndham, Richard W. Ballentine, Sarah J. Wyndham, Eliza-Anne H. Ballentine, and Mattie L. Wyndham.
Funeral services will be three o'clock Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at the graveside in Elmwood Cemetery in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Christopher M. Huff.

The family will receive friends at 148 Wyndham Rd. in Pawleys Island immediately following the funeral service on Wednesday.
