Obituary

Andrews: Essie Ruth Jenkins Morris, 97, widow of Walter Samuel Morris, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown. Mrs. Morris was born in Jefferson Co., Ga. on March 27, 1918, a daughter of the late John Robert Jenkins and Malissie Phillips Jenkins. She grew up in Jefferson Co. and graduated from Warrenton High School. Mrs. Morris was co-owner of Morris Grocery Store for over thirty years. She worked at Williamsburg Elementary School as a teacher's aide until retiring to care for her husband. She and Walter were married in 1938 until his passing in 2002. Mrs. Morris was a devoted member of Elim United Methodist Church, where she served in many church positions. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Surviving are: two sons, Tommy Morris (Rhonda) of Andrews and Gerald Morris (Cathy) of Brillion, Wisc.; a daughter, Martha M. Foxworth (Mike) of Andrews; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Willa S. Jenkins of Andrews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Morris was predeceased by: a son, Phillip Morris; four brothers, Earl, C.G., John Ed, and George Jenkins; and two sisters, Fannie Palmer and Marie Hobbs. Memorial services will be twelve o'clock noon Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Elim United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Mike Written. Inurnment will follow in the churchyard.
