Andrews:
Esther Powers Jayroe, 86, left for heaven Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown.
Mrs. Jayroe was born in Timmonsville on October 29, 1928, a daughter of the late Harry L. Powers and Mary "Susie" Powers. She was a store operator and homemaker in her community. She enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, and living life to the fullest. Mrs. Jayroe was a lady of many talents. Esther was a lifelong Seventh Day Adventist and lived and taught her children to "Love the Lord with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself."
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jayroe was preceded in death by: her husband, Russell A. Jayroe, a brother, Charles H. Powers, and two sisters, Ruth Hundley and Harriett Davis.
Surviving are: her beloved daughter, Suzanne Jayroe of Los Angeles, Calif., four sons, Edward Jayroe (Teresa), James Jayroe (Ellen), Mark Jayroe, and David Jayroe (Debra), all of Andrews; ten precious grandchildren, Michael E., Brian A., Casey R., James H., Esther L., Amanda S., Jacob R., Haylee, David R., and Mark Jayroe; a number of great-grandchildren; a special friend, Princess "Pat" Fore of Conway; a special granddaughter, Rhonda Barnes of Andrews; and a special cousin, William Greenlee.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 3, 2015, at Black River Original Freewill Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Bruce Jones and the Rev. Murray Powell. Burial will follow in Piney Forest Cemetery.
