Ethel Lowder Moore, 89, of Reidsville, N.C., formerly of Andrews, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Penn Nursing Center in Reidsville.
Graveside services will be Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mayer Funeral Home, Andrews Chapel in Andrews.
Mrs. Moore was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Pinewood, a daughter of the late James Henry Lowder and Minnie Griffin Lowder. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Navy Nurse Corps.
She worked as a surgical nurse at Georgetown Memorial Hospital for 30 years. Mrs. Moore also was a member of First Baptist Church in Andrews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon W. Moore Sr. and a sister, Essie Lowder.
Surviving are three sons, Vernon W. Moore Jr. of Madison, N.C., James S. Moore of Waynesville, N.C. and Edward E. Moore of Summerville; a sister, Mamie L. Broadway of Sumter; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
