Georgetown: Ethel Alverson Robbins, 93, widow of Claude Carroll Robbins, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Robbins was born in New Prospect, S.C., on September 17, 1921, a daughter of the late Joe Alverson and Cora L. Alverson. She grew up in New Prospect, and later graduated from Ashville Teachers College in N. C. Mrs. Robbins retired after many years of teaching for Aiken County Schools. While in Aiken, Mrs. Robbins was an active member of Aiken First Baptist Church. She and her husband moved to Georgetown eleven years ago, and were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Mrs. Robbins enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing the piano, and reading. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and neighbor. Surviving are: a son, Claude Carroll Robbins, II of Smyrna, Tenn.; three daughters, Teresa R. Hobbs of Pawleys Island, Karen R. Murphy of Charlotte, N. C., and Gail R. Hendriks (Michael) of Georgetown; a sister, the Rev. Betty Alverson of Marietta, S. C.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015, at eleven o'clock at the graveside in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill.
