Georgetown:
Eugene Edward Pluto, 76, died Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Pluto was born in Coral, Pa. on July 8, 1937, a son of the late Matte Pluto and Mildred Gasphers Pluto. He grew up in Pa. and served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Pluto lived in Sumter prior to moving to Georgetown, where he spent seven years with the Georgetown City Police Dept. He retired after 34 years with the SC Wildlife and Marine Resources Dept. He was also a federal wildlife warden. Mr. Pluto was a member of Winyah Lodge # 40 Ancient Free Masons for over 50 years and Ringel Heights Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Dora L. Pluto of Georgetown; a daughter, Debbie Cottingham (Glenn) of Marion; two grandsons, Gregory Benton (Kristi) and Matthew Cottingham; three great-grandchildren, Savanna, Shawn, and Logan Benton; a brother, Benny Gasphers of Penn Run, Pa.; and a half-brother, Matthew Pluto of Blackley, Pa.
Memorial services will be held at two o'clock on Monday afternoon, November 18, 2013, at Ringel Heights Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Kenneth Johnson and the Rev. Sammy Geddings.
