Georgetown:
Eugene Jacob Seitter, Sr., 90, entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2013, at Tidelands Community Hospice.
Mr. Seitter was born on February 4, 1923, in Wilmington, N. C., a son of the late Charles F. Seitter and Wilhelmina C. Burger Seitter. He was a graduate of New Hanover High School in Wilmington and settled in Georgetown County to grow produce for the New York City market. Mr. Seitter proudly served in the U. S. Navy reserves and saw action in the North Atlantic and Europe. Mr. Seitter was employed at Lawrimore Farm Supply and eventually purchased the business and changed the name to Lawrimore and Seitter Farm Supply, Inc. In 1985, Eugene retired to enjoy hobbies of farming, fishing, traveling, and spending time relaxing at his cherished mountain cabin in N. C.
Mr. Seitter was a member and served as Treasurer of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and was President of the Rural Water District of Georgetown County. He was also a member of the Winyah Indigo Society, the Omar Shriners, VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Navy Club, and the Farm Bureau. Many recall his generosity. Eugene left baskets of vegetables at friends and loved ones doors and shared home grown vegetable plants for their gardens.
Surviving are: his beloved wife of 66 years, Hazel Joyce Johnson Seitter; two daughters, Ann Seitter Yarborough of Hanahan and Donna Seitter Parr (Wally) of Georgetown; a son, Eugene Jacob (Jake) Seitter, Jr. (Debra) of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Richard Deer (Pamela), Brett Camlin (Charles), Brian Seitter (Kelly) and Chip Seitter (Kelley); and nine great-grandchildren.
