Obituary

Eunice Lambert McKenzie, 80, beloved wife of Winston Lavern McKenzie, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. McKenzie was born the daughter of Dethel and Mildred Lambert on October 1, 1943, in Georgetown County. She was born the fourth of five children: Leo, Joyce, Elbert, and Mitchell. She was a 1962 graduate of Andrews High School and was a secretary and bookkeeper for the family businesses. She was a faithful and active member of The Christian Fortress and was one of the founding officers. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother (Nana), caring sister, and a loyal friend.

Winston and Eunice were married on June 30, 1963, and celebrated 60 years together. Their home was blessed with three children: Cindy McKenzie Chavis (Jeff), Tina McKenzie Bratcher (Danny), and Scott Lavern McKenzie (Hona); five grandchildren: Justin McKenzie (Jill), Heather McKenzie, Macy Davis, Matt Bratcher (Krissie), and Bryson Miller; twelve great-grandchildren: Landon, Quincy, Kaygen, Annalee, Jameson, Bella, Averlee, Ridge, Brileigh, Bentley, Trinity, and Blakleigh. She also leaves behind: a sister, Joyce Lambert, a brother, Mitchell Lambert (Annalyn), a brother-in-law, Elbert McKenzie, two sisters-in-law, Gail Lambert and Irene Lambert, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by: her daughter, Tina McKenzie Bratcher, her parents, two brothers, Leo Lambert and Elbert Lambert, her father-in-law and mother in-law, David and Maude McKenzie, two brothers-in-law, D. Z. McKenzie and Wilson "Shot" Lambert, a sister-in-law, Patricia McKenzie, and a niece, Shelia Janay Lambert.

The McKenzie family will receive family and friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday evening, October 17, 2023, at The Christian Fortress. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at The Christian Fortress. Interment will follow at The Andrews Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Geraldine Bednego and Reverend Steve Small.

Pallbearers are Scott McKenzie, Justin McKenzie, Jeffrey McKenzie, Jeffrey Chavis, Matt Bratcher, and Ron Lambert.
