Ferol Louise Teel Matthews, 62, widow of Kenneth Merldon Matthews, Jr., died Friday, June 07, 2019, at her residence.
Mrs. Matthews was born December 11, 1956, in Georgetown, a daughter of the late James Elbert Teel and Dorothy "Dot" Frances Owens Teel. She grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Howard High School in 1975 as Salutatorian of her class. Mrs. Matthews earned an associated degree in business from Horry/Georgetown Technical College. She was a past member of Saint Mary our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church and a member of Ringle Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Matthews was a retired bookkeeper for the Georgetown County School District. She met her sweetheart when she was twelve and they were married on November 8, 1975. She never met a stranger, her laugh was infectious, and she had a great sense of humor. Ferol loved the south end of Pawleys Island where she spent as much time as possible and was an avid horse lover. Mrs. Matthews was most loving to her grandchildren and her beloved pet dog "BoBo".
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Matthews is predeceased by; a daughter, Keli Matthews and two brothers, James E. Teel, II and Joseph L. Teel,
Surviving are: a daughter, Meredith Matthews Freeman (Les) of Florence and a son, Ken Matthews (Carla) of Georgetown; a sister, Pamela Cameron (Harry) of Andrews; two brothers, Tony Teel (Jan) and Patrick Teel both of Georgetown; a mother-in-law, Joyce Matthews; seven grandchildren, Merle, Evan Cole, Brent, Alex, Matt-Matt, Andrew and Ethan; significant other, Ed Stevens of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be two o'clock Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Giles. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home from one until two o'clock.
