Inman: Frances Ward Goldstein, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2012. She had been a resident of Rosecrest Lutheran Home in Inman during the last year and a half of her life and at Sunrise Home in Charlotte, NC before that for several years to be close to family. Until that time, her home had been in Georgetown. Mrs. Goldstein was born in Portland, Ore., on January 21, 1921 to Pauline Weisser Schultz and Emil Schultz. She later moved to North Dakota with her family, where she lived until World War II, when she met and married Samuel Mortimer Ward from Georgetown. She was his loved and cherished wife for 25 years before he passed away in 1966. They had two children. Mrs. Goldstein later married Alwyn O. Goldstein and was his beloved wife for 41 years before he died in 2010. They worked together in his department store, Alwyn's, until retirement. Mrs. Goldstein was a devoted Christian and member of First Baptist Church in Georgetown. She loved the Lord with all her heart and served him by showing love and kindness to all people she came in contact with, especially her family. She was a very active member of the Platt Sunday school class and the Young as Ever group at First Baptist. Mrs. Goldstein was one of the original members of the Winyah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in many positions and was Worthy Matron twice. She was also a volunteer for the Red Cross and worked in the Blood Drive. Mrs. Goldstein had been a telephone operator for Bell Telephone while in North Dakota. She was a dental assistant for Dr. George Tiller in Georgetown. Mrs. Goldstein leaves behind: a sister, Elsie Ehli of Milwaukee, Wis.; a son, Samuel Allen Ward (Jennie); a daughter, Dorothy Phipps (Louis); a step-daughter, Roz Greenspon Birnbaum (Marty); a step-son, Dr. Steven Goldstein (Hallie); and a daughter- in-law, Shirley Ward. She also had six grandchildren, Jason Ward (Rebecca), Patrick Ward (Erin), Lisa Fiore (Richard), Keith Greenspon, Lawrence Greenspon, Michael Greenspon (Jenny), and Rick Goldstein. There are also seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Goldstein was devoted to her family and they loved her very much. Funeral arrangements are handled by Mayer Funeral Home with a service at First Baptist on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at two o'clock. The family will receive friends after the service in the church parlor. Burial will take place Sunday in Temple Beth Elohim Cemetery in Georgetown at 10:00 AM.
