Francis Linguard Siau, III, Colonel USAF Ret.
(1939-2023)
Lynn Siau passed away on November 10th at NHC-Garden City after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's
Disease.
He was born in Florence, South Carolina at McLeod Hospital July 11, 1939, to the late Francis Linguard
Siau, Jr., and Eleanor Lenora McClary Siau. He was the oldest of four boys. Lynn graduated from Winyah
High School in Georgetown in 1957. He met his wife, Juanita Sanders, when they were sixteen years old.
Lynn attended Clemson College and later entered the USAF in 1959 as an Aviation Cadet in Navigator
Training at Harlingen AFB, Texas. From 1960 to 1966, he was assigned as a navigator on B-52 bombers
with the Strategic Air Command at Columbus AFB, Mississippi. While there he had TDY's (temporary-
duty) to Guam and other top secret stations during the Vietnam War. Lynn completed over 4,500 hours
of flying time in B-52 and C-130 aircraft.
He served overseas in Vietnam while stationed in Okinawa in 1968-1970. He was a C-130 Navigator
Instructor at Cam Ranh Bay, Tan Son Nhut, Ubon, and Udorn, with extensive TDY in Southeast Asia.
In 1968, he received a bachelor's degree in mathematics at Arizona State University and a master's
degree in business from Central Michigan University in 1975.
Lynn's distinguished career of twenty-four years in the USAF was merited with many awards and
decorations. He retired in 1982, returned to Georgetown, South Carolina, and began a second career as
a Manager of Peoples Federal Savings and Loan for ten years.
Lynn continued his life of service in the Georgetown Community. He was a lifetime member of
Georgetown Presbyterian Church and longtime member of the church choir. He also served in Rotary,
Indigo Choral Society, Ribbon Club, Cotillion, Winyah Indigo Society, VFW Post 6444, and Georgetown
American Legion Post 114. Lynn Siau was an avid fisherman on his boat, the "Sea Oh!!!," golfer, and all-
round athlete over the years.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years; a daughter, Lisa Siau Ford (Albert) and a son, Daniel Frank
Siau (Wendy); four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ford, Katie Ford McAlister (Mark), Abby Siau Miller (Cole),
and Daniel Austin Siau; three younger brothers, Robert McGilvary Siau (Michelle), Patrick McClary Siau
(Becki), William Carraway Siau (Betty), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thanks to
NHC- Garden City.
A Memorial Service, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 17, 2023, in the
Georgetown Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials may be given to Georgetown Presbyterian Church Choir, the Alzheimer's Association, and
Tidelands Community Hospice.
Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
