Georgetown:
Frank William Matthews, 64, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Matthews was born in Hemingway on March 22, 1945, a son of the late William A. Matthews and Emmie McDonald Matthews. He was raised by Kenneth and Joyce Matthews of Georgetown. Mr. Matthews grew up in Hemingway and lived most of his life in Georgetown. He was a retired carpenter and member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church.
Mr. Matthews was predeceased by two brothers, Curtis L. Matthews and Kenny Matthews, and a sister, Dian Matthews.
Surviving are: a daughter, Whitney Matthews Potwin (Chris) of Gilbert; two granddaughters, Sydney Potwin and Gracy Potwin, both of Gilbert; former wife, Susan H. Tyler of Pawleys Island; four brothers, Robert T. Matthews (Sandy) of Manheim, Pa., Edward Patches (Michelle) of Canton, Il., Paul A. Matthews (Alice) of Georgetown, and Billy M. Preston of Murrells Inlet; sister, E. Faye Reynolds (Harry) of Georgetown; also three brothers, Pat T. Matthews (Renee), Rick Matthews (Ginger), and Tony Matthews (Kathy) all of Georgetown; sister, Charlene Jordan (Junior) of Georgetown; and sister-in-law, Ferol Matthews of Pawleys Island.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at four o'clock in Ringel Heights Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris E. Giles.
The family will receive friends at the home of Kenneth and Joyce Matthews, 172 Driftwood Avenue, and after the memorial service in the Church fellowship hall.
