Pawleys Island:
Frank Edward "Bozie" Mercer, 71, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at NHC Healthcare of Garden City.
Mr. Mercer was born in Andrews on July 15, 1934, a son of the late Sumter Marvin Mercer and Vivian Haselden Mercer. He was a graduate of Andrews High School and lived in Andrews prior to moving to N. Litchfield Beach in 1987. Mr. Mercer retired as an Amtrak railroad conductor in 1996 and as a 1st Sergeant from the S. C. Army National Guard. He also worked as a site superintendent and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, where he was known as "Mr. Habitat".
Mr. Mercer was a member of First Baptist Church of Murrells Inlet and served as a church usher. He was a former member of the Andrews Lions Club and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are: his wife, Linda Freeman Mercer of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Nicole M. Breckenridge of Charlotte, N. C.; a brother, William D. Mercer of Granbury, Tex.; a sister, Dixie Peavler, of Denver, N. C.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 8, 2006, at Pine Crest Baptist Church in Andrews. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Wall and the Rev. Matthew Jones. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
