Andrews:
Franklin Ervin Clemons, 86, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Lakes at Litchfield in Pawleys Island.
Mr. Clemons was born in West Andrews on October 18, 1920, a son of the late Robert Bissel Clemons and Annie Louise Smith Clemons. He attended the University of S.C. and was a graduate of St. Anselm College in Manchester, N. H. Mr. Clemons proudly served as a flight engineer flying the "Hump" over the Himalayas in the China, Burma, India Theatre of World War II. He was a partner of Gamble & Clemons Construction Co. and retired in 1990.
Mr. Clemons was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer, Chairman of the Building Committee, Trustee, and member of the Administrative Board. He was also a founding member of Cherry Hill Country Club and Andrews Parks, Inc.
Surviving are: his wife, Sadie Gamble Clemons of Andrews; a son, Franklin Ervin Clemons, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Georgetown; a daughter, Anne Clemons Phillips and her husband Martin of Pawleys Island; a sister, Emma Clemons Davis of Andrews; and a brother, Robert Bissel Clemons, Jr. of Andrews.
Lovingly named "Pop-Pop", Ervin is also survived by his special loves: four grandchildren, Millicent Clemons Jordan and her husband Kevin and Lee Phillips Otis and her husband Thomas, all of Charleston, Jason Franklin Clemons and his wife Melissa and Anne Phillips Carter and her husband Wes, all of Pawleys Island; and seven great-grandchildren, Kennedy Olivia Jordan, Ella Grace Jordan, Jackson Franklin Clemons, Hudson Reed Clemons, Evelyn Grace Otis, Alice Benet Otis, and Sadie Elizabeth Carter.
Memorial services will be eleven o'clock Thursday morning, May 3, 2007, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Sandra Stevens Poirel and the Rev. Cliff Gilmer.
