Freida LaJean Tilton (Goins), 51, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2023, at her brother's home in Rock Hill after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.
Ms. Tilton was born in Charleston, SC on April 10, 1972, a daughter of the late Fred Madry Goins and Jacquelyn Wall Goins.
She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, a cherished friend, and a source of inspiration to many. LaJean faced the challenges of cancer with unwavering determination and grace, showing us the true meaning of strength in the face of adversity. She never let cancer define her and continued to live life to the fullest, leaving a legacy of resilience and hope for all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a Christian and loved her family. LaJean loved to cook and was most famous for her chicken sausage pilau. She loved shopping and never turned down the opportunity to shop.
LaJean cherished her children: Kyle Goins, Justin Tilton, Dylon Tilton; Buddy Tilton (children's father) remained in touch until the end; siblings: Tammy Weist (Kerry) of Myrtle Beach; Deborah "Debbie" Russ (Earl) of Andrews; Tracy Dean Goins of Florence and Freddie Goins (Samantha) of Rock Hill, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. LaJean is preceded in death by her parents: Fred and Jackie Goins and three brothers: Russell Goins, James Goins, and Clyde Goins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
A memorial service to celebrate LaJean's life will be eleven o'clock on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Elmwood Cemetery in Georgetown, SC.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the medical professionals, friends, and family who provided support and care during LaJean's battle with cancer.
Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home are in charge of the burial arrangements.
