Obituary

Pawleys Island: Gale Cox Roszmann, 95, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Roszmann was born in Basil, Oh. on August 14, 1915, a daughter of the late Lawrence Raymond Cox and Coral Dell Koontz Cox. She and her husband of 68 years, the late Dr. Marvin Henry Roszmann, worked together in his private medical practice in Ohio for many years before retiring to Pawleys Island. After retirement, the Roszmann's worked as medical missionaries in places such as Taiwan, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Mrs. Roszmann volunteered for the American Red Cross for over thirty years. She and her husband also worked with the Smith Medical Clinic at Baskerville for a number of years. Mrs. Roszmann was a member of the Winyah Chapter # 3-064 of the Daughters of the American Revolution and First Baptist Church in Georgetown. Surviving are: two sons, John Henry Roszmann (Christine Schilling Roszmann) of Washington C.H., Oh. and Thomas Marvin Roszmann of Colorado Springs, Col.; two daughters, Marjorie Roszmann Tankersley (Jerome Benedict Tankersley, III) of Fredericksburg, Va. and Jane Roszmann Mellor (James Clement Mellor) of Dahlonega, Ga.; a sister, Annaleigh Mann of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Ebben, Claire Von Sauchen, Matthew T. Roszmann, Rachel and Chloe Roszmann, Emily Whitt, Jerome B. Tankersley, IV, James S. Mellor and Laura Kim; and two great-grandsons, Luke and Finn Roszmann. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Roszmann was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Mary Ann Roszmann; four brothers, Arthur, Jesse, Ted and Samuel Cox; and three sisters, Ellen Bowen, Kate Skinner and Ruth Feucht. Funeral services will be at eleven o'clock on Monday morning, January 17, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill. Burial will follow in Pawleys Island Presbyterian Cemetery.
