Gareth Sanford "Gary" Lasco, 86, of Georgetown, S.C. died Monday, October 10, 2022 at Prince George Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Lasco was the son of the late Milton F. Lasco and the late Leila Cook Lasco. He was born August 18, 1936 in Belding, Michigan. He was a draftsman for Ford Motor Co. in Michigan and was previously a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Michigan.A member of St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Georgetown, he served as a lector (lay reader) in several churches where he lived. He was a former Trappist Monk at Mepkin Abbey near Moncks Corner, S.C.
Lasco had a love for bluegrass music and played the banjo, 12-string guitar and mandolin for all to listen and enjoy.
Lasco is survived by one daughter, Tammy Evans (Jeremy) of Sparta, Mich.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister Sharon. Also, special family friends Claudia Howard, John Howard (Frances), Jimmy Howard (Carol Teal), and Tommy Howard, all of Georgetown, and Larry Howard (Jean) of Pittsburgh, Penn.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Shirley Ward, Louise; brother, Bud Lasco; daughters Lenora Louise Lasco and Cynthia Renee Green, of Ionia, Mich.; and sons Brian Charles Lasco of Ionia, and Bradley Scott Lasco of Arizona and granddaughter Katie Louise Rameau of Ionia.
A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Georgetown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mepkin Abbey, Moncks Corner, S.C. at a later date. Inurnment will follow in the Columbarium at Mepkin Abbey.
