Georgetown:
George Joseph Chiha, 87, widower of Margaret Sayeg Chiha, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Chiha was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on September 19, 1924, a son of the late Alfred Chiha and Mary Amara Chiha. He grew up in Hudson Co., N.J. and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Chiha retired as owner of Chiha Sales, Inc. in North Bergen, N.Y. and moved to Georgetown three years ago. He attended Saint Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church.
Surviving are: a daughter, Sharon Joseph (Tom) of Camden; two sons, Edward Chiha (Sarah) and George Chiha (Helen), both of Georgetown; eight grandchildren, Tommy Joseph, Lori Butehorn, George, Wesley, David, Edward, and Ken Chiha, and Cristen Geestman, seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Isabel Wittke of Jackson, N.J.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, December 31, 2011, at Saint Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald J. Farrell. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Annex.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, December 30, 2011, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from five until seven o'clock.
