Andrews:
George D. Funderburk, 62, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Funderburk was born in Monroe, N.C. on November 14, 1946, a son of Billie Hicks Funderburk and the late George F. Funderburk. After graduating from Pageland High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served as crew chief of a helicopter squad in Vietnam. Mr. Funderburk, an E5 Sergeant, received numerous awards including the Air Metal and the Bronze Star. After returning from Vietnam, Mr. Funderburk made his home in Andrews, S.C. where he met and married Connie Moss.
Mr. Funderburk was preceded in death by his wife Connie and a son, Clay Everett Funderburk.
Surviving are: a son, Chad D. (Jennifer) Funderburk; two grandsons, Chase Funderburk and Aiden Funderburk; and a granddaughter, Kayla Schuler, all of Andrews; his mother of Pageland: one brother, William Frank Funderburk of Pageland; mother-in-law, Helen Moss, of Charleston; two sister-in-laws, Kimberly Haselden, of Myrtle Beach and Mary Charles Hubbard of Florida; brother-in-law, Gil Moss, of Laurens.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Friday afternoon, January 2, 2009, at the graveside in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
