Georgetown:
George Cuthbert Galphin, Jr., 79, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005.
Mr. Galphin was born in Chester on August 25, 1925, son of the late George C. and Elizabeth McLure Galphin. He attended schools in Philadelphia, Pa. and graduated from Harvard University in 1949. Mr. Galphin was veteran of World War II serving as a Lieutenant in the Naval Air Corps. His entire career was in textile sales. Mr. Galphin enjoyed boating, hunting, and shooting. He lived in Charlotte, N. C. for many years prior to moving to Georgetown.
Surviving are: his wife, Mary Henry Galphin of Georgetown; two sons, Peter McLure Galphin and Thomas Henry Galphin, both of Charlotte, N. C.; a grandson, Mason Henry Burns of Charlotte, N. C.
Mr. Galphin was predeceased by his eldest son, George Cuthbert Galphin, III.
Memorial services will be two o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 20, 2005, at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church, 300 Broad St., in Georgetown. Officiating will be The Rev Scott R. Fleischer.
