Hardie
September 22, 1967 – January 31, 2024
Andrews ~
George McCray Hardie, 56, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Carlyle Senior Care in Kingstree. Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Bobby Hardie and Lillian Gertrude (Stocks) Hardie.
George was a very strong and stubborn man and always took challenges head on. He loved being outdoors, whether fishing, riding 4 wheelers, or spending time with family. George loved anything with a motor and enjoyed pushing them to the limit. He loved NASCAR and being in the infield where all the action was. He loved to grill and cook with family and friends, and was never too far from a fire anytime one was nearby. George battled cancer fiercely until the end with a wonderful sense of humor and a smile.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Lynn Long Hardie; one son, Steve McCray Hardie (Rochelle), two step daughters; Angel Lee Bryant (Dusty) and Leah Erlaine Ackerman (Ben), grandchildren; Avalyn Reigh Hardie, step-grandchildren; Brianna Ackerman, Logan Ackerman, Alaina Bryant, Madisyn Jones, Victoria Jones, and Allison Bone, one brother; Bobby Scott Hardie (Tracy), two sisters; Cynthia Diane Game (Eddie) and Virginia Lee Blakely (Kevin), nephews; Robert Hardie (Erin), Edward Game, Michael Game, Allen Blakely, Jacob Blakely, Cody Blakely, and Tony Tuggle; nieces, Sherry Hardie McPherson and Nicole Velazquez (Raymond), close friends; Roger Banks (Brenda), Andy Owens, Charles Poston, and Willie Grate (Michelle), and his companion, Little Man.
He was preceded in death by one son, Harry Lee "T.J." Bone, III, one sister, Michelle Isadora Hardie, and one niece, Caitlin Sierra Rose Hardie.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 10th at Christian Fortress, officiated by Pastor Geraldine Bednego. The family will receive friends following the service.
The Andrews Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
