Pawleys Island: George Douglas Holman, Jr. 65, widower of Mary Kennedy Jay Holman, died February 16, 2020, at his residence. Mr. Holman was born February 18, 1954, son of the late George Douglas Holman, Sr. and Nancy Pittman Holman. Mr. Holman grew up in Barnwell and graduated from Barnwell High School. He graduated from Wofford College and received his master's in business from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Holman worked for forty years in Trust and Estate Planning before retiring. He had a great love for golf and played as often as possible. Mr. Holman was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was best known as Papa. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Holman was predeceased by; a sister Ellen Holman. Surviving are: a son, Bates Holman (Stephanie) of Goose Creek; and three grandchildren, Lyla, Henry and Winifred Holman. Graveside Services will be eleven o'clock Friday, February 21, 2020, in Pawleys Island Presbyterian Churchyard. Officiating will be the Rev. Rhett Talbot. A Reception will follow immediately after the service in the Frank Holsclaw Fellowship Hall of the Church.
