Andrews:
George Waymoth Jenkins, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Jenkins was born on November 21, 1922 in Wrens, Ga., the son of John R. Jenkins and Malissie P. Jenkins. Mrs. Mamie S. Jenkins, a loving and caring step-mother, played a major role in his life. A native of Jefferson County, Ga., Mr. Jenkins lived most of his adult life in Andrews. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from employment with International Paper Co., where he worked in the Power House. Mr. Jenkins served as a Board member of Andrews Christian Academy, and his hobbies included farming, gardening, and cows. He was a very active member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Andrews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at eleven o'clock at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Rev. Paul Sapp and Rev. Andy Jenkins will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall Parlor one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include: his wife, Willa Swails Jenkins; two sons, Wayne Jenkins (Sylvia) and Greg Jenkins (Belinda); a grandson, Travis Jenkins; a granddaughter, Laurin Smith (Josh); a sister, Essie Ruth Morris; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: a son, Bob Jenkins; three brothers, Earl, C. G., and John; and two sisters, Fannie Palmer and Marie Hobbs.
