Gladiola "Gladi" Miller Johnson Brandon, 86, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Georgetown Healthcare & Rehab.
Mrs. Brandon was born in Pleasant Hill community of Georgetown Co. on September 30, 1921, a daughter of the late Neal C. Miller, Sr. and Carrie Cribb Miller. She grew up in the Pleasant Hill community and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School. Mrs. Brandon was a retired employee of Belk, Inc. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brandon was also a member of Winyah Chapter #148, Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Brandon was predeceased by: husbands, Harley Stafford Brandon and William Ed Johnson; a daughter, Linda J. Alford Port; five brothers, James D. Miller, Neal C. Miller, Jr., Jimmy Dale Miller, Roland H. Miller, and Floyd H. Miller; and a sister, Gertrude M. Cribb.
Surviving are: a son, William F. Johnson and his wife Joan of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a son-in-law, R. L. Port of Hemingway; four sisters, Vernelle M. Carnley and Marion M. Tanner, both of Georgetown, and Frances Harrell of Charleston, and Mary M. Pope of Rocky Mount, N. C.; six grandchildren, Susan Kimberly Radwick, Cynthia M. Vestal, William R. L. Port, Heather L. Johnson, Callie J. West, and Jameson Parker Johnson; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Tuesday morning, July 8, 2008, at First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Hiram L. McElrath. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
