Glen Thomas Insley died peacefully at home in DeBordieu Colony, Georgetown, SC, on January 26th, 2026. Born in Charlottesville, VA, on July 7th, 1946, he was the son of Richard Wallace and Eleanor Robinson Insley.
Glen graduated from Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, MD and Trinity College in Hartford, CT, earning a B.A. in economics in 1968.
After graduation, Glen moved to Boston, MA to pursue a career in financial services. He built his career as a fixed income portfolio manager in Boston, working for Merrill Lynch and Shawmut Bank, before moving to Charlotte in 1993 to join First Union which became Wachovia. Glen retired to DeBordieu Colony in 2007, where he became an elder and finance committee chair at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. He was passionate about and dedicated to supporting organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, Tidelands Hospice, and UNC Lineberger Cancer Center. Glen was an avid bridge player and achieved the title of Life Master. He also enjoyed playing tennis and golf with his friends and family.
Glen is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Libby Marshall Insley; son, Richard Kent of Larchmont, NY (Meegan); daughter-in-law, Liz of Bronxville, NY; five grandchildren, Isabelle, Margaret, Paige, Thomas, and Elizabeth; and a sister, Anne McCausland (Michael) of St. Joseph, MI.
He was predeceased by his son, Marshall Eugene.

The family and church staff with conduct a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7 at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
The Maryville Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting with funeral arrangements.
