IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Goldie Martha
Fitzpatrick
November 23, 1943 – December 7, 2024
Goldie was born in New York City on November 23, 1943. Her youth was split between NYC and Windham, NY.
In 1967, Goldie married Michael Fitzpatrick, and they shared life for the past 57 years. They lived mostly in rural upstate NY. Goldie found Jesus at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, and has been smiling ever since.
Goldie is the devoted mother of three wonderful children: Kendra Ellen Galley, Alan Peter Fitzpatrick, and Tara Alice Holloway. She is also the grandmother of Gabrielle Minghini, Megan and Robert Fitzpatrick, Alice and Michael Holloway, and Diane Burgos.
While her children were young, Goldie worked part-time at various service jobs: waitress, aerobics instructor, sales clerk, etc. Later she worked full-time at multiple jobs – culminating in 19 years as receptionist at the State Employees Federal Credit Union in Albany, NY where she excelled because she liked being nice to people all day.
Goldie and her husband retired to South Carolina in 2010. She frequently attended services at the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, All Saints, and the Abbey. She was also a member of several Bible Study groups. These opportunities to come closer to Christ, and the Christian fellowship they provided, brought her great joy. Unfortunately, in the past 5 years, her declining health (and Covid) prevented her attendance.
Her time on Pawleys Island was filled with good friends, sunrise walks on the beach with her children, and many quiet hours at Brookgreen Gardens. Goldie will be remembered for her wonderful smile and cheerfulness, and for the love that she shared boundlessly. She will surely be missed.
A memorial is being planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to All For Paws https://all4pawssc.org/ or the St. Francis Animal Shelter https://www.sfanimals.org/ She appreciated their work.
The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
