Andrews:
Goldie Wheeler Moore, 91, widow of John Decatur "Pete" Moore, Sr., died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at her residence.
Mrs. Moore was born in Andrews on December 12, 1919, a daughter of the late William Pharow Wheeler and Sarah Alice Powell Wheeler. She grew up in the Earls community of Andrews, graduated from Williamsburg High School, and attended Lander College. Mrs. Moore was employed with Oneita Industries for many years and also co-owned and operated The PGY Family Store. She loved her children, gardening, and taking care of her home. Mrs. Moore was a member of Earle United Methodist Church.
Surviving are: six sons, John D. Moore, Jr. (Judy), James "Jimmy" Moore, Tim E. Moore (Mary Lou), William A. "Tony" Moore (Isabel), Jeff A. Moore and Michael W. Moore (Gail), all of Andrews; three daughters, Patricia M. Rogerson of Georgetown, and Teresa M. Byrd and Debbie M. Cox (Roger), both of Andrews; two sisters, Gladys Jordan of Rock Hill and Inez Linder of Bishopville; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Moore was predeceased by a son, Gregg Moore.
Funeral services will be at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2011, at Earle United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Bob Huggins. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home on Saturday evening, May 21, 2011, from six until eight o'clock.
