Greer Collins Boyd, known to many simply as Greer, passed away on June 26, 2026, in Fort Pierce, Florida, following a drowning accident. He was born on April 3, 1963, in Georgetown, South Carolina, and lived a life marked by devotion to his family, faith, and a remarkable career in aviation.

Greer was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Joseph Boyd and a devoted father to his daughters, Kya Katherina Boyd, age 15, and Keise Karel Boyd, age 13. He is also survived by his niece, Chandler Boyd Smith and her husband Daniel, along with two great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Wofford Boyd, and by his brother, Wofford Boyd, Jr. Greer's family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in being present, loving, and steadfast for those closest to him.

A proud Christian, Greer lived his life with quiet strength, humility, and gratitude. His faith guided him through the many seasons of his journey and shaped the way he treated others. He was known for his warm spirit, his steady presence, and the genuine kindness he extended to family, friends, and colleagues alike. Those who knew him will remember a man who valued integrity, worked hard, and carried himself with dignity.

Greer earned his Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in aviation. He began as a pilot flying private charters and working with small airlines in the United States and Costa Rica. As his experience and skill grew, he advanced to flying large cargo jets around the world and later flew military cargo to the Middle East for Polar Air under contract for the United States Military. He continued to rise in his profession and later flew for Continental before becoming a Captain with United Airlines, where he served for the past twenty years. It was more than a career to him. It was a calling that he truly loved. Greer took great pride in his work, and he approached every flight with professionalism, discipline, and a deep respect for the responsibility entrusted to him.

Outside of aviation, Greer found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. He loved fishing, surfing, diving, and spending time with his wife. Above all, he cherished the moments he shared with his two daughters, whose lives he touched with love, encouragement, and unwavering support. His happiest times were often those spent near the water or in the company of the people he loved most.

Greer will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, accomplished pilot, and man of faith. His life reflected dedication, adventure, and love for family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Greer Collins Boyd certainly lived a life that made a lasting difference, and his memory will be treasured always.

My heartfelt gratitude and appreciation goes out to Jordan Barnes, Daniel DeGrazia, and Shayne Revels for bringing my love, Greer, home. There are no words to express how much that means to me.\

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 18, 2026 in the Pawleys Island Community Church, 10304 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island. To further honor Greer, a paddle out will be held on Sunday, July 19 at a site to be determined and announced here.
