Georgetown:
Grier C. McWhite, Jr., 79, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, in New Port Richey, Fla.
Mr. McWhite was born in Savannah, Ga. on October 30, 1925, a son of the late Grier Collins McWhite Sr. and Edna Beaty McWhite West. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. McWhite was a retired employee of the Container Division of International Paper Company. He was a member of Wayne United Methodist Church, a member and treasurer of the Curtis Bell Church School Class, and a choir member. Mr. McWhite was also a member of Winyah Lodge #40, Ancient FreeMasons and a member and Past Patron of Winyah Chapter #148, Order of the Eastern Star. He was the widower of Louise Strickland McWhite.
Surviving are: two daughters, Martha M. Autry and her husband Virgil and Barbara L. McWhite, all of Irmo; a brother; a sister; a sister-in-law, Laura S. Kirkland and her husband Claude of Georgetown; a brother-in-law, W. Smith Strickland, Jr. of Columbia; a grandson, Kevin M. Autry and his wife Gayle of New Port Richey, Fla.; a granddaughter, Karen A. Lee and her husband Paul of Blythewood; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Autry and Wade Autry, both of New Port Richey, Fla.; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Thursday, March 24, 2005, in Wayne United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Curtis E. Wells. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
