Trio:
Hallie Boykin Rowell, 93, died Thursday, January 22, 2004, at Prince George Healthcare Center in Georgetown.
Mrs. Rowell was born in Bishopville on July 27, 1910, a daughter of the late James Victor Boykin and Eliza Corbett Boykin. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and moved to Trio in 1930. Mrs. Rowell retired as Postmaster of the Trio Post Office and taught piano.
Mrs. Rowell was a member of Trio United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She served the Church as Pianist for sixty years. Mrs. Rowell was also a member of the Rosemary Chapter # 195, Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are: a daughter, Roberta R. Benton of Georgetown; three sons, Thomas B. Rowell and J. Victor Rowell, both of Trio, and Norman J. Rowell of Andrews; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rowell was predeceased by: her husband, Ervin R. Rowell, Sr., a son the Rev. E. Robert Rowell, Jr.; a grandson, James V. Rowell, Jr.; and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be three o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 25, 2004, in Trio United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. J. Robert Huggins and the Rev. Gary B. Adams. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery in Andrews.
The family will receive friends at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home Saturday evening, January 24, 2004, from six until eight.
