Pawleys Island:
Hammond Jackson Gunnell, Jr, of Pawleys Island, 78, died Thursday, the 5th of March 2009, at the Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet
Mr. Gunnell was born in Vienna, VA, attended Fairfax High School and the Abbott School of Art in Washington, DC. He worked several years for the Army Map Service and twenty years for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC, and Japan.
His spent the last forty years building, remodeling and designing homes in Virginia and on the Waccamaw Neck. Jack lived a lively life, loved to travel, fish in the creek and walk the beach with his dog, Callie.
Survivors include: his wife, Louise Engelhardt Gunnell; his former wife, Wilhelmina Bristow Gunnell, the mother of his three children, Jacqueline Carter, Shane Gunnell, and Yvette Shaffer; five grandchildren, Colby Hames, Hammond J.Gunnell III, Damien Gunnell, Cheraden Johnson, and Demi Shaffer; and five great-grandchildren.
The Celebration of His Life service will be held on Tuesday, the 10th of March, 2009 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Pawleys Island at 11:00 AM.
